NRA Certified Instructors are experienced shooters that are taking the next step to provide an invaluable service in their communities by training hundreds of thousands of individuals annually.

All instructor level courses require a mininmum of 4 students, read the process to become an instructor below, if you are interested please send us an email so that we can put you on our list of interested instructor candidates.

Becoming an NRA Certified Instructor is not a means of employment with Special Tasks Group Training.

STEP 1

STEP 2

Take the Basic Course

The NRA requires any instructor candidate to have taken the basic course of the discipline they are interested in teaching.

STEP 3

Take Basic Instructor Training (BIT)

Intended for experienced shooters this course will develop NRA Certified Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Firearms Training Courses.

Course Topics Include:

  • How to introduce a speaker

  • The instructor and the NRA Basic Firearm Training Program

  • Using a training team

  • Training materials and training aids

  • Organizing your course

  • Preparing to teach

This course is the mandatory pre-requisite for all subsequent NRA Certified Instructor training and is part of every instructor level class at Special Tasks Group Training. BIT is valid for 2 years.

Completion of the NRA BIT does not automatically certify you as an instructor. 

STEP 4

Take the Instructor Level Course

Special Tasks Group Training offers the following instructor level courses for those looking to become an instructor.

Instructor ratings are $200 per day of instruction and includes all necessary materials. The first day of each course is BIT and the pre-course assessment.
